Baudelaire's L'Etranger as Parlor Game
In Baudelaire's prose poem, "L'Etranger," the initial question, the conspicuous monotony of questions and answers, the extreme banality, and the form (interrogation-response in dialogue) are all elements that suggest its having originated in a nineteenth-century parlor game called "Ce que vous aimez."
