Critique architecturale dans Les Rougon-Macquart

Architectural imagery and criticism in Zola's Les Rougon-Macquart. This study shows that the various novels of the Les Rougon-Macquart present a complete survey of the architectural styles existing in France under the Second Empire and reveal Zola's dislike for the "l'architecture esthétique" and his preference for modern, functional principles that will be the basis of twentieth century architecture.
